Inspections
Massachusetts local boards of health are charged with a complex set of responsibilities including enforcement of state sanitary, environmental, housing, and health codes. These include, but are not limited to:
- Protection of the food supply through inspections of restaurants and other food establishments
- Inspections and permitting of septic systems, solid waste facilities, composting sites, and recycling centers
- Inspections of pools, beaches, camps, hotels, mobile home parks, and body art facilities
- Enforcement of state sanitary code in housing
- Maintaining numerous records and retaining them for required minimum retention periods
One great example of inspection reporting in our region can be found on Taunton's Health Department site: Food Service & Retail Food Establishment Inspection Reports.
